Improving safety through public access
Warrington Borough Council have agreed to publish hygiene scores for most food premises.
Who sets the scores?
The Food Safety team routinely inspect all food businesses for compliance with nationally set food hygiene standards. Each inspection results in the
businesses being rated against these standards. These inspections are carried out with intervals of between 6 months and 3 years.
How are the scores calculated?
Under the scheme three criteria are used to determine the final rating for each premises.
The three criteria are:
The final score awarded to each food business is indicated by a star rating, the highest award being 5 stars reducing to zero stars for the poorest.
Where can I find the scores?
To view the database, just follow the link www.scoresonthedoors.org.uk
Data from food hygiene inspections will be used to update the website on a monthly basis.
It is hoped that such knowledge will allow food buyers and consumers to make informed choices with a view to raising food standards and food safety.
Please Note:
The score given to a food business on the website has been based on the latest inspection carried out by the Council and as such it represents the situation as found by the officers on the day of that inspection. Therefore the score may not be representative of the overall, long-term food hygiene standards of the premises and should not be relied on as a guide to food safety.
